Consultations
Initial consultations are by appointment only; there are no walk-ins for me but other practitioners may have. To set up an initial health consultation with me, please contact me by phone (215-921-5805). Because of my schedule I don't check emails daily. If you have an emergency, please contact 911. You can book an appointment on  Bookfresh.com, but please also call our main number and leave a brief message that you made an appointment and would like a consultation.

I try to accommodate your schedules, and also ask that you call 24 hours in advance if cancelling. I often get calls of people wanting health questions answered about themselves or their loved one. I don't generally give medical advice or on the spot answers over the phone and don't encourage that since everyone's health and situation is unique. When you call, please be brief but let us know of your reason for calling. You'll get a call back ASAP to briefly go over your issue(s) and confirm the appointment.

You may opt to pay in advance via PayPal or after the consultation since clients/patients will often purchase product afterwards. My fee is currently $60. I don't take insurance and this fee is already discounted. To make a payment, scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the PayPal logo. Use email address rn@natural-abundance.com.

Education & Training
I'm first and foremost a practical educator of natural health. My ND is from Clayton College of Natural Health. My background is in pre-med with BS degrees in Biology and Psychology at Florida State. I have been interested in medicine and especially was inspired to pursue naturopathy since 1972 when I first met Dr. Shaklee, ND and became a distributor. Then I visited Portland, Oregon to see about entering NCNM's 4 year program but God had other plans for me at the time. During the late 1990s when I was pursuing my ND, I enriched my education with renowned herbalists, homeopaths, naturopathic physicians, MDs, an Oriental MD, acupuncturists and  an Ayurvedic physician. After acquiring some clinical training, I pursued the following certification classes:
- Ayurvedic principles and practice,
- Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and
  acupuncture,
- Massage therapy (shiatsu) & reflexology
- Botanical formulations and protocols
- Nutritional therapies and protocols
- Aromatherapy Level I/II training
- Homeopathy Seminar (NUPATH)
- Iridology & Sclerology (iris & sclera
readings) - these are assessment tools

What to Expect on Your First Visit

When you come for your first visit a complete health history assessment will be performed taking in all aspects of your health, including of course physical complaints, then contributing mental and environmental factors such as family traits and tendencies. The more complete the assessment, the better the outcome.

Most busy physicians don’t have time for this. How many times have you gone into their office to fill out a health questionnaire, wait another half hour and by the time they see you they ask questions all over again without looking at the chart. Most of the time they don't even review it carefully, if at all. Not so at NHS, I'll spend the time with you and come up with an individualized health plan. During the session I may take your pulse and check other vitals and do a scan on your sclera to glean additional information such as your constitutional tendencies or potential or existing pathologies. This is not a diagnosis, but part of an overall health assessment. I'll often ask a person to get a diagnosis from their primary doctor and often times have them bring in their lab reports and medical records.

I then guide and teach about naturopathic health, lifestyle conversion and advise on approaches to improving health. During a session I usually offer ideas about how to attain more optimum health through naturopathic principles of living and may even take clients outside to walk barefoot in the grass and learn how to breathe correctly. There are several possible system approaches I may use including Ayurvedic, TCM, Western, Eclectic and Sufi (not the whirling dervish variety), but special meditations or prayers, etc. I learned from years of sitting at the feet of a truly enlightened s-age (sufi for the age).

A customized treatment plan is then devised for you which could be relatively simple or more involved. I may suggest you get a nutritional test or panel of tests depending on what you are presenting. I then try to follow up in a week or two and if necessary, adjust your plan, then every two weeks a month and in many cases once a year. It depends on your state of health and the progress you may or may not be making. One thing I stress is compliance with the treatment plan. We all know the story of not following through. But how else will we be able to experience any health dividends if we don't follow the prescribed course?
